The 2024 renewal cycle is officially open. Please note, LMFT continuing education credits must be submitted this renewal cycle. LMFTs are required to submit proof of completion of 35 CEU contact hours to include three (3) hours in ethics and two (2) hours must pertain to veterans and or the family of veterans. In addition, a licensee who holds the Approved Licensed Professional Supervisors (ALPS) distinction, shall complete three (3) CEU hours in clinical supervision. The CEU offering must have “clinical supervision” listed in the title of the offering description. Only CEU courses completed from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2024, will be accepted.
LPCs are NOT required to provide proof of continuing education in this cycle. LPCs will submit CEU information in 2025. Please note, LPCs provide proof of CEUs in the odd year cycles (2025, 2027, 2029, etc.) For the 2025 cycle, only courses completed from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2025, will be accepted.

The renewal cycle is officially open on April 1, 2023. Please submit the renewal application, $145 renewal fee, and proof of payment via USPS (mail) to the address below. Please send certified, return/receipt if you would like verification the Board has received the application.

Please note, Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC) are required to provide proof of Continuing Education Credits with the 2023 renewal submission. LPCs are required to complete 35 CEU hours to include three (3) hours in ethics and two (2) hours pertaining to veterans and or the family of veterans. In addition, a licensee who holds the Approved Licensed Professional Supervisor (ALPS) distinction, shall complete three (3) CEU hours in clinical supervision. The program must have “clinical supervision” listed in the title or offering description and shall be NBCC, ACA or WVBEC approved. You may submit CEU courses completed from July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2023.
LPCs shall provide proof of CEU hours every other renewal year (2023, 2025, 2027, etc.)
LMFTs shall provide proof of CEU hours every other renewal year (2022, 2024, 2026, etc.)
Licenses not renewed on or before June 30, shall expire. LPCs and LMFTs who have
not renewed their license and continue to practice after the expiration date, may be
deemed guilty of unlicensed practice.
Expired licenses may be renewed within 60 days after the conclusion of the renewal cycle by paying the original renewal fee of $145 and a late fee of $100. (Per Series 2, LPC Fee Rules.)
After 60 days, expired licenses may be reinstated upon payment of the original renewal fee ($145), reinstatement fee ($250), and a late fee $100. (Per Series 2, LPC Fee Rules).
The renewal fee can be paid by credit card. Print and include the receipt with your renewal materials. Please send a certified return/receipt if you would like verification the Board received the application.
