Verification of Licensure

Counselor and Therapist License Verification in West Virginia

For individuals representing insurance companies, etc. these instructions will help to verify the license of a Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in West Virginia:

There is a $20.00 fee associated with this request, payable to WVBEC.
If submitting your request and payment via USPS, please mail to: WVBEC, License Verification, 815 Quarrier Street, Suite 212, Charleston, West Virginia 25301. WVBEC will return verifications via fax if requested; please include a valid fax number with the request.
If paying by credit card, follow the instructions at the Credit Card Payment tab and forward proof of payment along with the verification request to Cheryl.J.Henry@wv.gov.
The official Board verification will consist of the counselor/therapist’s name, license number, original issue date, expiration date, status of a license, and any complaints and or disciplinary action if applicable.
Please allow up to five (5) business days to process verification requests.
